Which CONTROL Resonant edition should you buy? There are three: Standard, Digital Deluxe, and a physical SteelBook Edition. For most players, the Digital Deluxe is worth the upgrade mainly for the 48-hour PS5 early access, the bundled Expansion Pass, and the bonus content. The base game is identical across all editions.

The PlayStation 5 Digital Deluxe edition includes 48 hours of early access (play begins Sep 22, 2026). This early access is PS5-exclusive; it is not in the PC or Xbox Deluxe editions.
Remedy offers a free “CONTROL storyline recap” in the main menu, so you do not need to have played the original game to jump in.
What does the Digital Deluxe Edition include?
The Digital Deluxe adds on top of the base game:
- Expansion Pass: future expansions bundled at a pre-order rate
- AWE Mission Outfit: unlocks at the end of Act 1 (not immediately)
- Untapped Artifact (Wallet): unlock at end of Act 1
- Starter Resource Bundle: unlock at end of Act 1
- Digital Artbook
- Original Soundtrack
- (PS5 only) 48-hour early access

What are the pre-order bonuses?
Pre-ordering the Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition unlocks three bonuses — two everywhere and one PlayStation-only:
- Hiss Corruption Outfit (all platforms) — a Dylan skin
- Pickpocket’s Tool Artifact (all platforms) — an equippable modifier
- Occult Outfit (PlayStation pre-orders only)
The SteelBook Edition does not list the standard pre-order bonuses in its contents breakdown, so confirm with your retailer whether a physical pre-order qualifies before assuming you will receive them.
Is there a physical edition?
Physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, including the SteelBook Edition, release on October 15, 2026, three weeks after the digital launch (digital Sep 24).
The SteelBook Edition matches the Digital Deluxe at $69.99 but trades digital extras for physical collectibles:
- Steelbook case
- Fine art prints
- Key art poster
It does not include the AWE Mission Outfit, Digital Artbook, Soundtrack, or Expansion Pass — if you play primarily digital, the Digital Deluxe delivers more practical value at the same price.
Should you buy Standard or Deluxe?
Buy Standard if you only want the base game and do not care about the artbook, soundtrack, or early access.
Buy Digital Deluxe if you want any of:
- The PS5 48-hour early access (the single most valuable perk),
- The Expansion Pass — worthwhile if Remedy’s post-launch content lines up with how long you plan to play, or
- The Digital Artbook + Original Soundtrack + AWE outfit + Starter bundle + Artifact.
If you are on PC/Xbox and ignore the Expansion Pass, the Deluxe upgrade is mostly cosmetics — weigh the ¥60/HK$50 premium against that. Buy the SteelBook Edition only if you collect physical memorabilia; the in-game extras are not in the box.
